This picture shows how to change a mixed number to an improper fraction. To do so you must take a mixed number and multiply the denominator by the whole number then add that number to the numerator and keep the denominator the same. The sum of the number you very recently added will be the numerator. The fraction you have now is an improper fraction.
Example: 1and 2/8 is 10/8
To do that I did times 8 equals 8. 8 plus 2 is 10. And the denominator stays the same so you now have the improper fraction of Ten Eighths 10/8
